Saga Cruises has struck a contract with Yara Marine Technologies to deliver scrubber systems to Saga Cruises’ latest newbuilding
Saga Cruises has struck a contract with Yara Marine Technologies to deliver scrubber systems to Saga Cruises’ latest newbuilding ꟷ with an option for a second vessel.
With a combined engine power of 21.6MW, the vessel’s four MAN engines will each be connected to a Yara Marine Technologies SOx scrubber to effectively clean the exhaust gas emissions down to IMO’s current and future emission requirements.
"We are proud to announce the contract with Saga and we look forward to seeing this impressive cruise vessel in operation", says chief executive of Yara Marine Technologies, Peter Strandberg.
“The decision to install scrubber systems on the vessel demonstrates Saga’s commitment to environmental regulations and reaffirms Yara Marine Technologies’ strong position in the exhaust gas cleaning market", Mr Strandberg concludes.
The vessel is under construction at Meyer Werft in Germany and is expected to be delivered in 2019.
Yara has also supplied scrubbers to four of Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) vessels; Jewel, Pearl, Jade and Jem, as well as to MSC Fantasia.
