Saudi Arabian OSV owner and operator Rawabi Vallianz Offshore has ordered two offshore support vessels from Indonesian shipbuilder United Sindo Perkasa
As reported by BRL Newbuilding Weekly, one OSV, Rawabi 503, will have an overall length of 85 m, beam of 22 m, depth of 8 m, and draught of 6.2 m, with propulsion power supplied by two Yanmar 8EY26W main engines, each rated at 2,595 kW at 750 rpm. These medium-speed eight-cylinder diesel engines have a cylinder bore of 260 mm and stroke of 385 mm.
Rawabi Vallianz Offshore’s other newbuild OSV, Rawabi 807, also ordered from United Sindo Perkasa, will have an overall length of 32.5 m, beam of 10.5 m, depth of 4.9 m and draught of 3.9 m. Propulsion power will be supplied by two Caterpillar 3512C main engines, each rated at 1,947 kW at 1,800 rpm.
The two OSVs represented three newbuild orders placed in week 48 2020, according to BRL. The other was for a miscellaneous offshore vessel. While BRL reports orders have been placed for 84 newbuilds in 2020, only 20 of those fall under the categories of anchor handling tug supply vessels (four), offshore supply (four) or offshore support (14). Other types represented by the offshore category are drill ships, floating storage, production and offloading ships, offshore gas, miscellaneous, offshore platform and offshore rigs. In total, 510 offshore vessels are various types are on order, 30% of which is represented by offshore support and offshore supply vessels.
