As Ballast Water Treatment Technology reported in August 2018, Scorpio Tankers has ordered 55 ballast water management systems (BWMS), one each for 55 tankers that had been delivered without the systems installed.
The consulting and advisory services provider for compliance with BWMS requirements, Choice Ballast Solutions is already working with Scorpio Tankers and Ecochlor (Scorpio now has a stake in Ecochlor – see video) on 12 Duchessa-class vessels and recently completed engineering design and shipyard installation packages for STI Duchessa and STI Opera.
Now Choice Ballast Solutions has announced it has expanded collaboration with Scorpio Ship Management, as agent for certain vessel-owning subsidiaries of Scorpio Tankers Inc, by contracting to provide turn-key integration engineering and project management services for ballast water management system installations on board an additional 39 vessels.
“We are pleased with the initial services provided by Choice and look forward to our continued partnership on these projects,” said Scorpio Tankers Inc, chairman and chief executive Emanuele Lauro.
Choice Ballast Solutions president John Dooley said, “Today’s announcement with Scorpio Tankers solidifies our position in this marketplace as an industry leader offering an expertise in the integration installation for the total range of ballast water treatment technologies. Working with Scorpio Tankers on their fleet of tankers will allow us to maximise the talents of our engineers and focus on efficiencies that will drive better timelines while reducing the cost of each installation.”
Business, operational and technical issues impacting the crude, product and chemical tanker trades will be discussed in London at the Tanker Shipping & Trade Conference, Awards & Exhibition, 20-21 November 2018.
