Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has confirmed it has ‘paused’ production at its flagship factory in the UK
In a statement, the company said, “Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has been reviewing its operations daily in light of the Covid-19 outbreak and guidance coming from the government.
“While guidance regarding factories and industrial operations has been much less prescriptive than that for shops and offices, Siemens Gamesa is taking this opportunity to pause production operations and review safety measures in the light of new government guidelines.”
The company noted that port operations in Hull remain open under the same regime of review.
Recent days have seen a number of manufacturing facilities for wind energy affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Siemens Gamesa earlier halted production at its facility in Spain and is complying with the requirements of a ‘lockdown’ imposed by the government in India.
