Ziton has been selected to overhaul and upgrade the blades at the Meerwind offshore windfarm in Germany
Asset owner WindMW contracted Siemens Gamesa who in turn contracted Ziton on turnkey terms for the work. Siemens Gamesa will oversee quality and safety during project execution.
The blades will be upgraded in an onshore factory at Port of Esbjerg in Denmark, allowing for easy vessel access. Ziton said Port of Esbjerg was partly chosen to minimise the impact of Covid-19 on project execution.
Ziton will use the vessel Wind Server and an as yet unspecified service operation vessel, optimising working windows for offshore technicians. The technicians offshore and onshore will also be contracted by Ziton.
Preparation for the project is well underway and the campaign will kick off in the near future. It is expected to have a duration of 9-12 months, depending on the weather.
