SMTS in the Netherlands has been awarded a contract to provide walk-to-work and lifting solutions for Rem Offshore’s newbuild service operation vessel/construction service vessel
Rem Offshore signed a contract with Green Yard Kleven in Ulsteinvik for the construction of the SOV/CSV Rem Energy in December 2020.
SMST will deliver a modular package consisting of an access and cargo tower with elevator and motion-compensated gangway and a 3D motion-compensated crane.
The equipment will be used to transfer maintenance personnel and cargo to offshore wind turbines.
On completion, the vessel, designed by Havyard Design & Solutions, will enter into a five-year contract with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy on the Global Tech 1 offshore windfarm.
To increase operational flexibility, the motion-compensated gangway will be able to operate on the starboard and port side of the vessel.
The access and cargo tower provides access to platforms up to 12 m above sea level.
SMST sales manager Jelle Dijk said, “Our latest rental gangway, the telescopic access bridge L-Series, is already operational on another Rem Offshore vessel, Rem Inspector. This vessel will operate as a front-runner for the newbuild.”
