A Norwegian OSV owner has sold a cable layer and gained contracts for three subsea support ships and an anchor handler in a hectic week in December 2025
Solstad Maritime has sold its construction support vessel (CSV) Normand Clipper to UK-headquartered Global Marine Group, which currently charters this 2001-built ship.
The Skudeneshavn, Norway-headquartered owner said it would recognise a gain on the sale of around US$10M in its Q2 2026 accounts.
Normand Clipper has been installing cables for Global Marine since 2021 and its ownership is set to happen on 1 June 2026 after completion of the vessel’s firm contract.
It has capacity of over 5,000 tonnes of cable, up to 96 repeaters and a 3-m burial subsea plough to support the installation of fibre-optic cables for the telecommunications sector.
In addition, Solstad has secured contracts for vessels working offshore Brazil and in the North Sea, keeping these assets busy in 2026 and beyond.
Three CSVs, Normand Navigator, Normand Cutter and Normand Jarstein, were contracted for combined firm periods of around 175 days, all starting in December 2025 or January 2026, with options extending these contracts by 150 days in total.
The combined gross value of the firm contracts is around US$25M said Solstad.
2014-built, 117-m Normand Jarstein will continue working in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, while 2015-built, 143-m Normand Navigator and 2001-built, 128-m Normand Cutter will provide ROV operations and survey activities connected to various projects in Brazil.
In another US$73M contract, Brazilian state energy group Petrobras has chartered anchor handling tug supply vessel Normand Topazio from Solstad. This 2005-built, 78-m vessel will support drilling rig movements and operations for Petrobras for four years, starting in Q1 2026 offshore Brazil.
