SunPetro prepares Q2 2025 Indian offshore installation campaign

Indian energy group SunPetro is developing the Bhasker hydrocarbon field in the Gulf of Kutch, India, with a series of wellhead platforms and interconnecting pipelines with the main offshore construction activities scheduled for Q2 2025.

Heavy-lift crane barge Conquest MB1 is being mobilised to Mumbai to prepare for the main lifting work, expected in April and May.

This vessel will install two jackets each weighing around 800 tonnes, and their respective topsides and piles of the Bhasker A & B platforms at the offshore location, 110 nautical miles south of Kandla, India.

ACE Pipeline is the main contractor and the project is directly overseen by Consolidated Support Services, while Marine Masters is involved in lifting and installing the platforms.

Marine Masters’ work encompasses detailed preparation for lifting and mooring activities, lifting the two jackets and their respective topsides, upending and installing piles, and creating a dedicated platform for subsea and piling operations.

It chartered Conquest MB1, which in addition to the 1,400-tonne capacity main crane, has two mobile cranes with lifting capacities of 180 tonnes and 500 tonnes respectively.

This is scheduled to arrive in Mumbai on 7 March and at the offshore site on 20 March, with all installation work anticipated to be completed by 15 May 2025.

A jack-up drilling rig will be deployed over the wellhead platforms to drill the production wells, and pipelines will be installed between the platforms and a terminal for hydrocarbon export.
