SunStone Ships has ordered another Infinity-class vessel from China
SunStone Ships has signed an agreement for its seventh Infinity-class vessel, due to be delivered in September 2021.
The seventh vessel ordered has a long-term charter agreement in place. Infinity-class newbuilds under contruction include Greg Mortimer, scheduled to be delivered August 2019, Ocean Victory in October 2020, Ocean Explorer in January 2021, Ocean Odyssey in March 2022, Ocean Discoverer in September 2022 and Ocean Albatross in October 2022.
Infinity-class vessels are 104 m long and 18 m wide, with a draft of 5.1 m. They have capacity for 130-200 passengers and 85-115 crew. The vessels are Ice Class 1A, Polar Code 6 and are being built with safe return to port, dynamic positioning and zero speed stabilisers.
China Merchants Heavy Industry yard is constructing the seven expedition cruise vessels, which are based on Norwegian company’s Ulstein Design & Solutions’ design.
Ulstein is also delivering the equipment package, of proven technology from well-known manufacturers in Europe and supervising the technical construction of the vessel. Tillberg Design USA is responsible for the interior design and Makinen for constructing the interior spaces.
Elswhere, SunStone Ships has sold Silver Discoverer to French cruise company CroisiEurope – and has announced that two further vessels are for sale or charter.
Silver Discoverer is currently on charter to Silversea Cruises and will be redelivered between late July and early August in Singapore. SunStone Ships will also put its Gemini cruise ship up for sale or charter with delivery from October 2019.
