Van Oord’s heavy lift vessel Svanen has arrived at the Kriegers Flak offshore windfarm in the Baltic, ready to undertake installation work on the foundations for the 600-MW offshore windfarm
Van Oord was awarded a contract by Vattenfall to transport and install the foundations for windfarm. It will install a total of 72 monopiles and transition pieces.
Kriegers Flak will be Denmark’s largest offshore windfarm and is due to be fully operational in 2021.
The monopiles for the project will be transported by floating and towing them from Rostock, Germany, directly to the site. The transition pieces will be transported on barges from Aalborg, Denmark.
A noise mitigation system will be used to reduce underwater noise resulting from pile driving.
Riviera will host a week of free to attend 45-minute webinars focused on offshore wind commencing 8 June. Register your interest now
