PaxOcean’s PT Graha Trisaka Industri shipyard in Batam, Indonesia has signed a newbuilding contract with Taiwan Navigation Co for the construction of five tugboats
Two will be fitted with steerable Rudderpropellers and three with Voith Schneider propellers. Taiwan Navigation ordered these tugs after it secured a 25-year charter contract from China Petroleum Corp (CPC), Taiwan to support LNG carriers at a new import terminal.
The five tugboats will serve the new LNG receiving terminal at the Kuantang Industrial Port, which is currently under construction. They will be built to Robert Allan designs with bollard pull of around 60 tonnes and are scheduled for delivery by Q4 2022.
PT Graha Trisaka Industri shipyard was already building two Voith propulsion escort tugs for CPC to support loading at another of its LNG import terminals in Taiwan.
These escort tugs with will be based on Robert Allan TRAktor V-3200 design and will comply with the Chinese Classification Society requirements, with the notation CR100+E Tug, Fire-Fighting Ship 1 and Coastal Service CMS+.
The first two of these 31.8-m tugs will be named Shen Ao VII and Shen Ao VIII and are scheduled for delivery Q2 2021.
Tug operations and LNG terminal projects will be discussed during Riviera’s series of virtual conferences and webinars during 2021 - use this link to access more details and register for these events
