Chevron Australia has awarded a subsea installation contract for the Gorgon Stage Two natural gas development to TechnipFMC.
Work covered under the contract includes project management and engineering, transportation, and installation and pre-commisisoning of umbilicals, fly leads and manifolds. It also covers fabricaton, transportation, installation and testing of rigid spools.
TechnipFMC will be operating offshore Western Australia in water depths between 250-1,340 m and intends to bring into play “local capabilities” alongside its fleet of pipelay vessels for the work.
Chevron Australia operates the Gorgon project, a joint venture split between Chevron’s Australian subsidiaries, ExxonMobil, Shell, Osakea Gas, Tokyo Gas and Jera. Stage Two’s goals are to upgrade Gorgon’s existing subsea facilities in order to maintain production for future gas supply.
