Third ASD tug delivered to Tunisian port authority

Med Marine has delivered three harbour tugs to Tunisia’s Office of the Merchant Marine and Ports (OMMP) as part of the government authority’s fleet renewal strategy.

In total, six ship-assist tugs will be built at the Eregli Shipyard on Turkey’s Black Sea coast for OMMP, all to Robert Allan Lts’s RAmparts 2800 design.

These 28.2-m, 428-gt azimuth stern drive (ASD) tugs are capable of ship escort, towing, mooring, and pushing, and emergency response with a FiFi-E class off-ship fire-fighting system.

They have a beam of 11.5 m, a draught of 5.4 m, a bollard pull ahead of 60 tonnes, accommodation for eight crew and a top speed of 12 knots

In mid-December, Med Marine delivered newbuild ER168, Oudhna, the third in this six-vessel series, following delivery of Bulla Regia and El Jem earlier in H2 2025. The fourth, fifth and sixth vessels were launched at the shipyard in November and December 2025.

They are all powered by twin medium-speed diesel engines driving two azimuth thrusters on the stern and have an open aft deck engineered to carry two 10-ft containers.

Three more of these ASD tugs are scheduled to be delivered to OMMP in H1 2026 by Med Marine.
