Thun Landy will join Thun Lidkoping, Thun London, Thun Liverpool and Thun Liffey in the Gothia Tanker Alliance network
This L-class vessel is the last in a series of five resource-efficient, high-quality tankers built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard Dingheng Ltd (former known as AVIC Dingheng) in China.
The L-class series has been designed and developed inhouse, using the Erik Thun group’s long experience of building sustainable, high-quality vessels. The group states that the focus of the design is meeting customer requirements on environmental care and new regulations.
The Erik Thun Group and Thun Tankers had particular praise for all those involved in the design and build process, including the vessel’s crew, the team in MF Shipping Group and the shipyard for their efforts to complete and successfully deliver Thun Lundy.
The new tanker will enter into the Gothia Tanker Alliance network with crewing and technical management done by MF Shipping Group.
Thun Tankers has been active in ordering new and specialised tanker designs and newbuildings. In May 2020, Thun Tankers placed an order for a second specialised Not Always Afloat But Safely Aground (NaabsaMAX) 4,250-dwt product tanker. The focus has been to maximise the vessel´s cargo intake and increase in-port performance with the scope to allow further increased cargo lot sizes going into restricted niche ports.
