Greek shipowner Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) is building a new LR1 tanker
The DP2-capable shuttle tanker, being built at South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries Co, will have a loading capacity of 154,000 dwt and is scheduled for delivery in Q2 2027.
Brunvoll will act as the propulsion supplier for this contract, supplying three retractable azimuth thrusters for one vessel, with two additional vessels as an option. As TEN already has two vessels under construction with the same Brunvoll equipment, this adds up to potentially five vessels in total.
In addition to three retractable azimuth thrusters, Brunvoll will supply two tunnel thrusters, and its propulsion and thruster control system, BruCon PTC, with three operating positions. The combined power output of all the thrusters is approximately 17,000 kW.
Three TEN Suezmax shuttle tankers on order with Samsung shipbuilding in South Korea are due in the next two years: Paris 24 (delivery 2025), Athens 04 (2025) and Anfield (2026).
