TSM Windcat has brought the first French-flagged crew transfer vessel (CTV) vessel – TSM Windcat 49 – into service
TSM Windcat 49 is the first vessel to be built to the new French flag regulation for offshore wind, allowing the CTV to transport up to 26 people, using a hull built in France and outfitted in the Netherlands.
The vessel is a version of the Windcat Mk3.5 design and has IMO Tier III engines with SCRs to reduce NOx emissions.
TSM Windcat 49 has already started work on the St Brieuc offshore windfarm and will soon be followed by a sister vessel to further support the construction process.
TSM chief executive Loïc Thomas said, “We are delighted to bring this first French CTV to the market, after so many years waiting for offshore wind projects to start in France.
“We are ready – together with our long term partner Windcat Workboats – to provide clients with a fleet of efficient vessels for the French market.”
Windcat Workboats managing director Willem van der Wel said, “Our relationship with TSM has resulted in the first dedicated CTV built for the French market. Collaboration with the French authorities has been key to bringing this vessel to the market.”
