After nearly a decade managing the South Korean ballast water management system manufacturer Techcross, chief executive KyuWon (KW) Park is to share management duties with a newly appointed chief executive Wayne (SeogWon) Park.
Wayne Park said “This is a splendid opportunity to navigate Techcross during a time of significant growth and change for our industry, especially for retrofit markets. USCG-approved and certified technology is helping us plan and build infrastructure in a way never seen before, truly changing the way we design, manufacture and deliver Techcross ECS.
“Our focus for the immediate future is to consolidate and continue the growth in global retrofit markets where we see immense demand from 2019.”
Wayne Park has more than three decades of global sales and marketing experience having served as executive vice president of the multi-national electronics company LG Electronics and has had roles as president and chief executive of North American region, European region and Korean domestic region as well as head of global sales and marketing operations.
KW Park said “Wayne (Park) is renowned as one of the electronics industry’s most respected leaders and has delivered operational excellence for LG Electronics for 36 years. Wayne’s extensive experience will ensure global sales and marketing to make Techcross the global number one ballast water management systems (BWMS) manufacturer.”
Current chief executive KW Park is the ex-president of Hanjin Heavy Industry & Construction and ex-chairman of Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Association.
Techcross delivered and installed its BWMS on more than 60 retrofit vessels in 2018 and is expecting to more than triple that number with 200+ retrofits in 2019.
The choice of ballast water management systems will be discussed at the Asian Tanker Conference in Singapore in February.
