Owners of US towboats operating along inland waterways in North America welcomed newbuilds to their fleets in Q2 2026
Parker Towing added a Super Tiger-class vessel to its fleet as a newly constructed workboat built by Serodino Inc in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Chipper Rabbit has two Mitsubishi S6R-Y3 engines, compliant to US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 3 requirements, each rated to generate 510 kW of power at 1,800 rpm.
Serodino is building a second of this class of 18-m towboat for the Northport, Alabama-headquartered owner, with a beam of 7 m and a depth of 2.5 m.
“The fully mechanical propulsion package was a strong fit for what we were looking for in a vessel,” said Parker Towing executive vice president Chas Haun.
“Serodino delivered a vessel that aligned well with our operational needs.”
Laborde Products supplied the propulsion package and worked alongside Parker Towing and Serodino throughout the project.
Intracoastal Iron Works in Bourg, Louisiana, has built two 1,570-kW, 24-m towboats for Hines Furlong Line as part of an 11-vessel newbuilding campaign.
Donny Mudgett and Bob Nienhuis each has three Mitsubishi S6R2 diesel engines compliant with US EPA Tier 3 emissions standards and two Laborde-supplied generator sets, each rated at 65 kW.
Intracoastal had already completed similar vessels in 2025 and Q1 2026 – Sun Valley, Oxford and Sawtooth – as part of this programme.
Memphis, Tennessee-headquartered Southern Devall has welcomed 2,240-kW towboats Marlee Mae and Wanda B to its fleet after their construction by John Bludworth Shipyard in Corpus Christi, Texas. These 24-m vessels each has twin Caterpillar 3512C main engines, John Deere 99-kW generators and Twin Disc 5600 gears with a 5.76:1 ratio.
Halimar Shipyard has completed construction of twin-screw towboat Mr. Bryan for Central Boat Rentals. It has twin Mitsubishi S6R2-Y3 engines, compliant with EPA Tier 3 and rated at 600 kW at 1,400 rpm.
C&C Marine Repair has delivered the first in a series of 26.5-m twin-screw towboats it is building in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, for Canal Barge. Cabby H. Boone has two Mitsubishi S12R engines, compliant with EPA Tier 4 emissions rules and each rated at 940 kW at 1,600 rpm.
