Marine electrical systems provider Vard Electro Canada has announced the opening of new operations in the United States
Vard Electro US Inc will offer the same marine electrical engineering, procurement solutions and vessel system integration as Vard Electro, a subsidiary of the Vard Group majority-owned by Fincantieri.
The company’s general manager Andrea Qualizza said “Vard Electro has over decades served shipyards and shipowners all over the world. We have operated in the Canadian market since 2014, and we see there is a market for our services in the US. The establishment in Canada, and now in the United States, is important for us to be close to our customers.”
The company has installed its equipment on board more than 300 vessels, including complete systems for power management, propulsion, automation and navigation. The company is located across the world and operates globally.
Vard Electro Canada was incorporated in 2016 and is a subsidiary of Vard Electro AS based in Norway. Managing director Pierre Poulain said Canada’s national shipbuilding strategy – a government programme aimed at renewing the fleet of the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard – has helped the company grow to a successful business in a short time period.
Mr Poulain said “We have been looking to grow our business south of the border for some time now. It is very exciting to be finally making the leap and opening our first US office in Houston. Our team is ready for the new opportunities this brings us, and we will continue to provide our trusted electrical engineering services and integrated solutions to our US and global clients.”
