Van Oord has been awarded a four-year operation and maintenance (O&M) contract by Vattenfall
Working through MPI Offshore, which has been part of Van Oord since 2018, the company will provide jack-up and associated lifting services for main component exchange across Vattenfall’s portfolio of offshore windfarms.
The contract includes planned and unplanned maintenance campaigns for approximately 600 wind turbines. The parties both have the option of extending the contract for another year.
Vattenfall head of offshore wind Catrin Jung said, “Guaranteed availability of jack-ups for main component exchanges will ensure faster response times and ultimately reduce downtime and lost revenue.”
Vattenfall has 10 offshore windfarms in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. During the contract period, its offshore portfolio will be extended to 622 turbines with a combined capacity of 2.6 GW.
