Viking Line unveils its flexible Viking Terrace
In early 2022, Viking Line’s new climate-smart vessel Viking Glory will launch service on the Turku-Mariehamn-Stockholm route. The company has revealed the vessel will be delivered with what it claims is the Baltic Sea’s "first genuine rooftop terrace", located on Deck 11.
Offering flexible solutions and infrared heating, the terrace will enable passengers to enjoy sea views along with food and drinks from early summer through late autumn.
“Viking Glory embodies our vision of the Baltic Sea passenger cruise ship of the future, with a combination of climate-smart solutions and an unbeatable archipelago experience. An essential part of any cruise is to sit out on deck and enjoy the ever-changing sea and archipelagos with their special islets and rocky skerries. With the unique Viking Terrace, it will be possible for the first time to maximise this experience during the warmer half of the year, regardless of the weather,” said Viking Glory intendant Stig Pernell.
Viking Line explained Viking Terrace is a flexible combination of restaurant and rooftop bar located on Deck 11 and will be “open to sunworshippers on the warmer days but thanks to its glazing and infrared heating, can be a protected oasis on cooler days as well”. It says the seasonally adapted solution is brand-new for this kind of vessel on the Baltic.
The restaurant has seating for 202 people plus 54 sun loungers. The deck also offers a play area and entertainment for the youngest passengers on summer days as well as ice cream. In the evening, the company provides more adult-oriented entertainment in the form of troubadours and DJs.
