Finnish operator Viking Line is implementing a new fleet management system on its newbuild passenger ship Viking Glory
SERTICA – a fleet management system developed by Danish software and automation specialist Logimatic – will be installed on six vessels in the operator’s fleet in addition to Viking Glory.
Viking Line technical superintendent Jonas Rosenqvist said, “We are looking forward to using SERTICA. The app will have a great impact on our daily work as it supports us both in maintenance and in relation to inspections. This means improved safety and comfort for our passengers. We have successfully cleaned and migrated our existing data, and are analysing how to include the newbuild into our existing data structure.”
Logtimatic project manager Søren Holmstoel said, “It is important the data structure on the new vessel matches the structure on the rest of the fleet. This makes it easier for both management and crew. However, we also have a few ideas for how Viking Line can optimise data and achieve maximum value of their fleet management system.”
The fleet management system includes maintenance, procurement, safety and apps. Martech Systems is assisting with building the new data system on Viking Glory.
The LNG-powered cruise ferry will be the first to use ABB’s azipod electric propulsion and features new multi-fuel engines from Wärtsilä to help optimise fuel consumption.
Viking Glory’s maiden voyage commences in 2022 with the ship expected to operate on the Turku–Åland–Stockholm route.
