Satellite group SES Networks and Dutch VSAT provider De Boer Marine have joined forces to provide connectivity to merchant shipping, offshore support vessels, yachts and fishing vessels
De Boer Marine will provide communications using SES’ geostationary and medium Earth orbit satellites for operational connectivity and crew welfare applications.
This comes with SES’s Skala global platform for flexible bandwidth management, automatic beam switching, and network management.
Skala combines ground system technology, satellite communications and lifecycle services for scalable, flexible and managed data services for commercial shipping companies.
“Through connectivity and ground system technology powered by SES Networks, they will be able to enjoy a faster and more reliable end-to-end service than ever before,” said SES Networks vice president for global sales for commercial maritime and energy Morten Hagland Hansen, “removing any connectivity barriers for their operations both on vessels and onshore.”
De Boer Marine vice president for business development Johannes Oost commented, “We have a diverse customer base, with complex requirements when it comes to data. With SES investments in space and ground-based infrastructure, our customers will have the capacity, coverage, and performance they need to overcome any future challenges they face,” Mr Oost said.
De Boer Marine is a distributor of satellite communications hardware supplied by Cobham Satcom, Intellian and KNS. It also supplies voice over IP, GMDSS radio and bridge systems for navigation, IT support and alarm systems.
Our Vessel Optimisation Webinar Week (12-15 May) gives operators vital insights into the options available to extract maximum value from vessel operations. Each 45 minute webinar explores a different facet of vessel optimisation with the maritime professionals you want to hear from.
