A posting on Kuwait Oil Tanker Company's (KOTC) website has laid bare not only who responded to a tender for the supply and commision of a ballast water treatment system, but how much each company bid, and who won.
Tender ref: FEG-01/2016 ranks the five short listed companies according to their bids. The successful bid was also the lowest. Alfa Laval's US$15,684,848.78 beat Panasia's bid of US$15,950,000 and Calgon Carbon Corporation's US$17,571,500. Wärtsilä was the fourth most expensive bid - and some distance from the three ahead of it - coming in at US$23,854,929. By contrast Desmi Danmark, while shortlisted, did not purchase tender documents, and did not lodge a bid.
