Wilhelmsen Ship Management (WSM) has been contracted to provide ship management services for the new floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Turquoise, owned by Ireland-based Pardus Energy. The FSRU is a 170,000-m3 gas processing vessel built at South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The FSRU will be managed by Wilhelmsen Ship Management Malaysia, which will provide the full suite of ship management services – technical, crew management and related services, according to WSM spokeswoman Esther Gan. WSM now has 30 LNG and LPG vessels under technical management.
“We are extremely excited to be selected as the manager for this FSRU,” said WSM chief executive and president Carl Schou. “This win further solidifies our position in the gas market and we expect further growth driven by the positive sentiment in this segment.”
“We are very pleased to select WSM as the technical manager for our first newbuild FSRU, Turquoise and look forward to working and developing a fruitful relationship with WSM in the years ahead,” said Pardus Energy head of LNG and FSRU Tony Heffernan. Pardus Energy is a new entrant in the FSRU market.
