Rivertrace is an ISO 9001 quality-assured company and market leader in oil water quality monitoring, with 35 years’ experience. Today, Rivertrace is at the forefront of designing equipment and systems that not only meet but exceed requirements of tightening environmental legislation for the marine, offshore and industrial markets.
Rivertrace was one of the first to develop a solution for the common mistakes of manual entries and log variations in the oil record book, designing the Smartsafe ORB (a bilge overboard security system for the oil record book).
In its simplest form, the Smartsafe ORB utilises the ship’s GPS and records the process of the bilge water discharge. The base unit documents the vessel’s time, date, latitude and longitude, and the start and stop of the discharge process. The event summary is displayed on the control screen for easy viewing and is used to annotate the oil record book.
This smart system can record data from up to three oily water separators and can be downloaded to a PC, printed or emailed using the built-in email application avoiding potentially costly manual entry errors.
The Smartsafe ORB can also have a tamper-proof electronic flow meter added, calculating and recording the volume of actual oil discharged overboard utilising the PPM reading from the OCM (oil content meter).
To increase the overall security of the system to prevent accidental or malicious discharge or separator bypass, a secondary diverter valve with position feedback can be installed after the standard IMO diverter valve. This secondary valve is controlled solely by the Smartsafe ORB and will immediately be closed should a malfunction or malicious act be detected.
Rivertrace tailors each system according to our customers’ individual environmental monitoring requirements. There are a number of components that can be added as needed to build up a suitable package.
Rivertrace also supports our customers who wish to surpass the legislative compliance. This may be in accordance with ExxonMobil’s ‘Marine, Environmental, Safety and Quality Assurance Criteria’ which recommends that the OWS and ODME systems must be calibrated by manufacturers or persons authorised by the manufacturer annually, or alternatively, the measuring unit sensor must be renewed.
For this, Rivertrace can offer our calibration check kits for annual verification, where a certificate can be provided if completed by an authorised service agent or we can offer new factory calibrated cells for an exchange on board ensuring no downtime.
Rivertrace will be showcasing our range of oil in water monitors and analysers at SMM, Stand A1.313, demonstrating our experience in water quality monitoring and your partner for compliance.
