With the start of SMM 2018, Raytheon Anschütz, the leading navigation company, unveiled a new generation of the integrated bridge system.
The new Synapsis NX attracts customers with its modern, consistent user interfaces, together with a lean and ergonomic bridge design. However, there is more behind what makes Synapsis NX the next generation standard for safe, user-friendly and scalable bridge systems.
Synapsis NX features next-generation Radar NX and ECDIS NX software. Radar NX and ECDIS NX are a significant step ahead and offer the world’s first user-defined, intuitive user interfaces and operation concepts. Raytheon Anschütz developed the new software in an agile development process leveraging the expertise of experienced navigators and specialised user-interface designers.
At the same time, Synapsis NX is based on modern and modular software technologies in order to become the platform for the future, digitalised bridge. A lot of new helpful functions and services are made available for the navigation bridge, assisting the crew and leading to new levels of safety and efficiency.
As an example, the Synapsis NX applications stand out with highly integrated functions, such as radar/AIS target management, alert management or sensor integrity monitoring. Targets appear consistently on any display, all applications use consistent sensor data, and a central alert management has less beeping and blinking to attend to. These functions are already available with a stand-alone console connected to a navigation network. Benefits for the crews are less work for routine tasks, a better situation awareness and safer navigation.
Radar NX and ECDIS NX include additional features to further support navigators or increase situation awareness on board.
Radar NX has an overall focus on providing a non-distracted overview and enabling a fast interpretation of the radar picture. This includes a new tracker that delivers optimised performance in tracking and anti-clutter processing, including an advanced radar video merge feature as an option.
ECDIS NX also includes smart functionality to simplify routines. For example, users can decide to hide panels with indications or operation controls to have a maximised chart window in support of route monitoring tasks. As another example, route planning is now a wizard-guided process applying intuitive principles such as drag-and-drop. Comprehensive voyage planning tools include interfaces to the ship-shore data exchange.
Below the surface, Synapsis NX offers state-of-the-art, smart system architecture that grants scalability and flexibility to realise individual configurations and designs.
