VPS senior account manager Jack Grogan highlights the recent chlorinated hydrocarbon contamination in Singapore bunker fuels, saying, “It’s probably the biggest fuel problem in four or five years.”
In the video, Mr Grogan chats about his presentation ‘Fuel testing for current VLSFO fuels’ with Riviera Maritime Media’s executive editor and head of business relations Edwin Lampert. Mr Grogan presented at Maritime Air Pollution and Fuel Technologies Americas 2022, which was held 21-22 April 2022 in Houston, Texas. Mr Grogan says reducing emissions starts with managing your fuel and lubricants properly. This will make your vessel operate at its peak levels, lowering fuel consumption and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. One of the keys to decarbonisation, he says, is to closely track how much CO2 your ship is emitting. “Then you can take actions to reduce it and track it,” says Mr Grogan.
