The Ship of the Year Award recognises a vessel of any type, either delivered or substantially upgraded in the past year, that incorporates innovative technical developments that identify it as a landmark vessel. The award will be presented to the ship’s owner.
These technical developments should advance cost efficiency, environmental performance and/or safety. Candidates should pick one specific area in which the ship breaks new ground and focus on that in their submission. Developments can include operational efficiency measures such as enhanced cargo handling.
Judges will be looking for evidence of a ship that meets a specific mission with excellent results. A makers list is not required but principle particulars would be useful. The entry should give enough information about ship design and machinery to allow judges to make an informed decision.
