The deal expands Teekay’s service through ABB Turbocharging to include CO2 emissions and fleetwide engine optimisation benchmarking
Teekay’s 54 Suezmax and Aframax tanker vessels will upgrade from ABB’s Tekomar XPERT to the XPERT for fleet product.
The product upgrade will allow Teekay to benchmark fleetwide emissions and will offer the tanker group software-based snapshots of data, covering fleetwide engine health and annual CO2 emission savings potential through a Tekomar software portal.
Teekay vessel manager Manoharan Jeganathan said the expansion will improve engine operations and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“By proactive diagnostics and maintaining optimum engine performance across the fleet Tekomar XPERT not only enhances reliability and voyage performances but also assists meeting our emission targets,” said Teekay Vessel Manager Manoharan Jeganathan.
ABB Ability’s software monitors engines on individual vessels feeding back diagnostics to give operators the ability to benchmark performance across fleets and to use the data to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
Data and diagnostics are accessed through the Tekomar fleet portal and the information will be integrated into a vessel balanced scorecard, which displays operational data for each tanker in a digital dashboard.
Tekomar Xpert gives operators engine performance evaluations gathered through ABB’s base of turbochargers from thousands of engines.
Tekomar Xpert is built on ABB’s Ability platform with cyber security included.
Vessel engine optimisation and data sharing will be under discussion at many of Riviera Maritime Media’s series of webinars, online forums, virtual conferences and technology days in 2021. Register to attend through our events portal.
