Bulk Carrier Webinar Week
|
Wind-assisted propulsion. Future-proofed design. Voyage optimisation.
Beginning Thursday 1st December, Riviera will be holding a series of webinars focused on wind-assisted propulsion, future-proofed design, voyage optimisation and vetting and inspections. Each webinar is meticulously researched and speaks to a key industry challenge, headache or opportunity.
Our webinars are designed to strike the right balance between transmission of key information and interaction with the expert panel assembled. Those who register will also receive copies of webinar materials after the event.
Our discussions are focused, cover the advertised subjects, and deliver registrants actionable insights.
Registration is free; please sign up below.
To guarantee a position on one of the webinar panels, as either a premium partner or sponsored presenter and panellist, please speak with Colin Deed. A number of positions are made available throughout our webinar weeks for our commercial partners on a first come, first served basis.
Please join us for any or all of the following:
The case for wind-assisted propulsion of bulk carriersDate: Thursday 1 December - Time: 11:00 - 11:45 GMT |
WATCH NOW |
Wind-assisted propulsion systems are being specified for bulk carriers. Our panel will assess the available technologies, their economics, and the extent to which they support emissions reduction and regulatory compliance, especially EEXI requirements entering into force in 2030.
Join us as we discuss
- Just how fit-for-purpose are wind-assisted propulsion systems for bulk carriers?
- Retrofits: design, installation and scalability considerations
- Newbuilds: design, installation and scalability considerations
- The economics and timeline for return-on-investment
- In-service experience: reliability, fuel savings and crew training
Panellists:
Claes Horndahl, Sales Director, Yara Marine Technologies
Nick Contopoulos, COO, Anemoi Marine Technologies
Paolo Tonon, Technical Director, Berge Bulk

Designing future-proofed bulk carriersDate: Thursday 1 December - Time: 14:00 - 14:45 GMT |
WATCH NOW |
IMO decarbonisation targets complicate bulk carrier design choices for the operator. What is clear is that vessels ordered today must be able to switch to operating in a carbon-neutral mode, likely by the 2030s, and certainly within the lifespan of a newbuild vessel. Getting the design specification wrong means a vessel owner risks having a stranded asset, with higher operating costs and declining market value.
Join us as we discuss
- Rethinking the collaboration between stakeholders in the design process
- Compliant and competitive bulk carrier designs: finding your balance
- Preparing bulk carriers for conversion to greener fuels
- Lessons-learned from the industry’s first movers
Panellists:
Morten Løvstad, Vice President, Global Business Director - Bulk Carriers, DNV Maritime
Kristian Knaapi, Sales Manager, cargo ships, Deltamarin
Christian J. Dhall, COO, 2020 Bulkers Management AS
Bulk carrier voyage optimisation and weather routeing for profit and planetDate: Friday 2 December - Time: 09:00 - 09:45 GMT |
WATCH NOW |
This webinar assesses the extent to which embedding voyage planning and weather routeing systems in a bulk carrier fleet management programme delivers operational efficiency, reduced fuel costs and lower emissions.
Join us as we discuss
- Choosing the right pre-planning strategy
- Different pathways to route optimisation
- Real time data. Operational risk. Energy efficiency. CII and EEXI compliance
- The value of retrospective analysis of fleet performance data
Panellists:
George Mantalos, Energy Management Director, Starbulk
Ossi Mettälä, Sales Manager, NAPA Shipping Solutions
Thomas Hechmann, Commercial Manager - Sales, Coach Solutions
