Offshore Energy Webinar Week
Be sure to join us for Offshore Energy Webinar Week
Next generation cranes. Latest generation cable-lay vessels and equipment. DP for unmanned vessels.
Beginning 6 September 2021, Riviera will be holding a series of webinars focusing on some of the most important technology in the offshore support vessel and offshore wind energy industries.
Each webinar is meticulously researched and speaks to a key industry challenge or opportunity.
Our webinars are designed to strike the right balance between transmission of key information and interaction with the expert panel assembled. Those who register will also receive copies of webinar materials post event.
Our discussions are focused, cover the advertised subjects, and deliver registrants actionable insights.
Registration is free, please sign up below
Should you wish to join one of our expert panels please contact Ian Glen or Bill Cochrane.

Next-generation cable-lay vessels and technologyDate: Monday 6 September - Time: 09:00-09:45 BST |
Rapid growth in the offshore wind industry is driving the need for next-generation cable-lay vessels and equipment. As the size and scale and distance from shore of offshore windfarms has grown, so has demand grown for vessels capable of increased cable-loading capacity. The growth trends mean that new vessel designs and onboard equipment are needed to reduce the time required to undertake large-scale construction projects in the sector. Coupled with the requirements for increased capacity, decarbonisation goals mean that new vessels also face the need to be more environmentally friendly than those they replace.
Join us as we discuss
- Reducing project cost and timescales with greater cable capacity
- The diverse requirements of deepsea and near-shore cable-laying
- Enhanced designs with greater operability and manoeuvrability
- Innovations in cable-lay equipment and technology
- Bundled cable-laying and simultaneous laying and burial
Panellists include:
Gavin Rippe, Business Development Director, MAATS Tech
Bjørn Ladegård, Vice President Installation and Services, Nexans
Hakan Ozmen, Executive Vice President Project Business/President CEO Prysmian Powerlink, Prysmian Group
Taking the strain: cranes and lifting
|
Lifting equipment such as cranes are an offshore vessel’s most important tool. Manufacturers are designing new-generation cranes to handle huge offshore wind turbines and foundations. They are developing 3-D motion-compensated units for ships such as SOVs. Elsewhere, lifting solutions are being developed that could eliminate the need for cranes altogether.
Join us as we discuss
- Demands placed on the market by ever-larger components
- The role of motion-compensation
- Innovative lifting solutions for Jones Act vessels
- New crane concepts from Europe and the US
- Crane-free lifting solutions – what are the advantages?
Panellists include:
Charlotte Roodenburg, Manager New Build Sales, Huisman
Shannon Galway, P.E. VP of Technical Services, Friede & Goldman
Sindre Halvorsen, Offshore Energy Solutions Customer Innovations Manager, MacGregor
Dynamic positioning in the unmanned
|
With remote-controlled and autonomous vessels increasingly deployed, unmanned technology is gaining a strong foothold for work in the offshore energy sector. Unmanned surface vessels (USVs) offer unparalleled cost savings, can help reduce fuel consumption and emissions and will play a key role gathering the data the offshore industry needs, but these vessels must maintain their safety records and prove their capabilities for precision in positioning.
Join us as we discuss:
- Roles and missions for unmanned vessels
- Positioning requirements for remote surveys
- How DP will help USVs achieve their missions
- Mission critical equipment for precise control
- Navigational redundancy and the role of onboard sensors
Panellists include:
Odd Magne Nesvåg, Technical Responsible Ship Systems & Components Maritime, DNV Norway
Richard Purser, Technical Adviser Marine, International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA)
Andre Rose, Technical Adviser, International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA)
