News agency Reuters reports that the Japanese government has chosen a consortium consisting of Japan Renewable Energy, Iberdrola Renewables and Tohoku Electric Power to develop a 375-MW offshore windfarm
In December 2024, consortia consisting of RWE, Mitsui and Osaka Gas, Sumitomo and TEPCO Renewable Power, and JERA and partners also secured agreements to build offshore windfarms in the country’s second offshore wind solicitation.
The selection process for the Happo-Noshiro block was delayed.
Reuters said the windfarm to be developed by the Japan Renewable Energy, Iberdrola Renewables and Tohoku Electric Power consortium is off the coast of Happo-Noshiro in Akita prefecture.
Vestas will provide the turbines for the Happo-Noshiro project.
