Costa Cruises has announced a new programme for crusie ships Costa Venezia and Costa Firenze
Both ships will join the Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet, with Carnival operating Costa Venezia and Costa Firenze going forward. The ships were earlier intended for the Asian market.
323-m ships Costa Venezia and Firenze were built by Fincantieri and delivered between 2019 and 2020. The ships will continue operating their regular Costa itineraries until they are assigned to Carnival for deployment. Costa Venezia debuts for Carnival Cruise Line in Q2 2023 and will be followed by Costa Firenze arriving in 2024.
Costa Cruises President Mario Zanetti said, “We are excited to see these iconic Costa ships make their debut in the US under the leadership and operation of our sister brand. Costa is providing its beautiful ships with their Italian design and Carnival will deliver fun, Italian style.”
“Given the slow restart of Asian operations and the strong restart of cruises in the US, we decided to seize this opportunity to allow the many North American guests to appreciate our unique ships’ features, creating synergies within this important market”.
Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy called it “an exciting opportunity” for the operator to take on two additional Vista class ships in the US. Ms Duffy said, “There are lots of ways we plan to create an immersive fun experience for our guests who choose to sail on these ships, which have beautiful Italian design elements, dining and retail that will deliver Carnival fun, leveraging the spirit of Italy from our sister line Costa.”
Costa Cruises said it is informing its trade partners and guests about these changes and will communicate shortly which ships will replace Costa Venezia and Costa Firenze on their planned itineraries, including an exclusive programme in Turkey departing from Istanbul.
