A naming ceremony took place 12 March 2022 for Edda Breeze, a new commissioning service operation vessel for Edda Wind
The naming ceremony took place at Gondan shipyard in Spain.
Edda Wind signed a contract for the commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) in April 2020. The charter with Ocean Breeze has a firm period of 11 years, with the contract serviced by a front-runner vessel for the first year before the new CSOV is delivered.
In a statement, Edda Wind said Edda Breeze is almost complete and the vessel is being readied for sea trials followed by installation of the ship’s motion-compensated gangway system before commencing operations in July 2022.
The new vessel is 88-m long with a breadth of 20 m and was designed by Salt Ship Design. it is prepared for the installation of zero-emissions hydrogen fuel cell technology. It has accommodation for 120 people, including 93 windfarm technicians and 27 crew members.
Once in service, it will provide support to Ocean Breeze during operations at the Bard Offshore 1 offshore windfarm in Germany.
The vessel has a 3D motion-compensated crane and a motion-compensated gangway with a maximum range of 28 m.
