The prototype of Siemens Gamesa’s most powerful wind turbine to date, the SG 11.0-193 DD Flex offshore wind turbine, which can reach 11 MW under specific site conditions, is approaching completion at the Østerild Test Centre in Denmark

Siemens Gamesa announced details of the ‘DD Flex’ concept and the SG 11.0-193 DD Flex offshore wind turbine in late November 2019.
The company said digitalisation allows it to increase the capacity of its largest machine to 11 MW, boosting its annual energy production.
The SG 11.0-193 DD Flex offshore wind turbine has a 193-m diameter rotor utilising 94-m long Siemens Gamesa B94 Integral Blades. What the company described as “constant digital observations” are processed by the control system, increasing capacity up to 11 MW.
As highlighted recently by OWJ, the first contract for the new turbine has already been announced, with Vattenfall confirming plans to use it on the Hollandse Kust Zuid 1 and 2 and 3 & 4 offshore windfarms in the Netherlands.
