Swire Blue Ocean has confirmed that its offshore installation vessel Pacific Osprey is returning to operation with an extended crane boom designed to install the latest generation of offshore wind turbines
Installation work on the NOV crane was completed on 30 May 2020 and Pacific Osprey has successfully completed a series of load tests.
Pacific Osprey’s new crane boom has a simplified design focused on efficient turbine installation. The 1,200-tonne crane can lift loads to a height of 132 m above deck at a 31 m radius. It can lift 700 tonnes at 50 m radius to a height of 125 m above deck.
With its upgraded crane boom, Pacific Osprey is capable of handling the next generation of offshore wind turbines and, under normal operating conditions, is capable of handling four Siemens Gamesa SG 11.0-193 DD turbines, five MHI Vestas V164-10.0 MW turbines, five V174-9.5 MW turbines and three GE Haliade-X 12MW turbines.
Riviera is hosting a week of free to attend 45-minute webinars focused on offshore wind commencing 8 June. Register your interest now
