UK-based Progress Offshore Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Solstad Offshore ASA, has sold the anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Normand Progress for an undisclosed price
Built in 1999 by Ulstein Verft and flying the Isle of Man flag, Normand Progress is a UT 742 design, with an overall length of 95 m, beam of 24 m, depth of 9.7 m and maximum draught of 8.3 m. Among its other features are an A-frame with a safe working load of 250 tonnes, knuckle job cranes, a cargo deck area of 950 m2 and accommodation for 75.
At the time of its sea trials, Normand Progress set a world record in bollard pull, achieving 304 tonnes for 10 minutes. The shipyard received certification of the record from the Guinness World Records. Other offshore vessels have achieved higher bollard pulls since such as UT 761 CD design Far Samson (423 tonnes) in 2009 and 10 years later, deepwater installation vessel Island Victory (477 tonnes) during towing tests at Vard in 2019.
Delivered to its new owner 3 August, Normand Progress highlights recent sales in the AHTS and AHT market. Two 2009-built, Damen 6615 design AHTS vessels, Brodospas Alfa and Brodospas Beta, were sold by Croatian offshore, towage and salvage provider Brodospas to Greece’s Zouros Group. The 67-m AHTS vessels have been renamed Leader Z and Navigator Z.
Meanwhile, Bumi Armada sold the AHTS vessels Armada Tuah 24 and Armada Tuah 25 to China’s Fujian United Ocean Engineering. UK ship valuations provider VesselsValue reported the sales prices for Armada Tuah 24 (renamed Lian He Hai Gong 5002) at US$0.86M and Armada Tuah 25 (renamed Lian He Hai Gong 5001) at US$1.14M.
S&P activity as of the end of June has been slightly below levels in 2020, according to VesselsValue’s June Market Report. Not including fast supply vessels and platform supply vessels below 300 dwt, 76 offshore support vessels (OSVs) have been sold year-to-date, amounting to transactions totalling US$222M. This is below the 81 OSVs (US$245M) sold in 2020 and 93 (US$434M) in 2019.
