New liveries have been painted on the LNG battery-hybrid platform supply vessels Aurora Cooper and Aurora Coey, following their transfer to management by Aurora Offshore
Part of Borealis Maritime, Norway’s Aurora Offshore will control 18 offshore support vessels, including 13 platform supply vessels (PSVs) and five anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTSs) after the transfer.
On social media, Aurora Offshore reported the handovers took place on 19 March, with the takeover of Aurora Cooper (ex Cooper Viking) in Stavanger and Aurora Coey (ex Coey Viking) in Aberdeen.
Both PSVs were built by Remontowa Shipbuilding in Gdansk in 2021 and have LNG dual-fuel battery-hybrid propulsion, with clear deck space of 980 m2.
Aurora Offshore extended its thanks to Harbour Energy, Vår Energi and Equinor for allowing the temporary release of the PSVs to complete the change of the management process.
As we reported, Viking Supply Ships (VSS) sold its interests in the two PSVs, after terminating its management agreements. VSS executed a ‘put option’ on the shares in the vessel ownership companies.
VSS said it expects to book a gain of approximately US$8.5M and a cash release of approximately US$17.5M. The transaction was expected to close by Q2 2024.
