The future is brighter than ever before
On behalf of Caterpillar, I am pleased to welcome you to the 2020 OSJ Conference in London. Champions will survive. There is no question that the last several years have been difficult for all of us. The global offshore industry has seen many restructurings, consolidations, bankruptcies and liquidations. However, champions do survive which includes this year’s attendees of the OSJ.

Last year at this time, we discussed the bottom – was the industry actually at the bottom? Could it get worse? Do we believe the future is brighter? These are all good questions to continue to ponder. Only time will tell what the industry will look like in the coming years. I am optimistic that great lessons have been learned during this downturn and the future is brighter than ever before.

This year we will hear from industry leading experts in many subsegments of the offshore industry. We will be learning about new ideas, new technology and interesting insights that may help to shape our future.

Efficiency is paramount. The industry is searching for ways to lower costs, consume less, increase safety and increase marketability of our assets. To gain efficiency we may need to think differently and adopt technology in new ways in order to see the results that we believe can be achieved.
