Planned maintenance takes FSRU Exemplar offline
The operator of the FSRU Exemplar-based LNG import facility in Finland has announced a temporary shutdown while the unit undergoes scheduled drydocking.
The 2010-built, 148,806-m3 converted LNG carrier has reached the Kattegat, Denmark after leaving the port of Inkoo on 11 August 2025. Excelerate Energy’s FSRU has been stationed at the port of Inkoo since December 2022.
On 20 May 2023, Gasgrid Finland and US-based Excelerate Energy signed a 10-year lease agreement for the LNG terminal ship Exemplar.
In a statement, Gasgrid Finland Oy, the parent company of the operator, Floating LNG Terminal Finland Oy said, “The maintenance work will not impact on the continuity or security of gas transmission. No terminal operations will be available during the maintenance period.”
Exemplar and the port of Inkoo also provide natural gas to Estonia through the Balticconnector gas pipeline, which was damaged in the early hours of 8 October 2023, but is now back online.
No drydock was mentioned in the statement, but according to VesselsValue tracking service, Exemplar’s AIS is signalling Munkebo, Denmark as its destination. Munkebo is the location of the Fayard Shipyard in Denmark.
