Replacement of failed BWMSDate: Monday 14 October - Time: 10:00-10:45 BST |
From 8 September 2024, all vessels must comply with the D-2 standard or have mitigation plans in place. This includes replacing ballast water management systems (BWMS) that do not meet compliance. Given the complexity of marine equipment, replacements are inevitable, especially with the added pressure to reduce energy consumption and meet decarbonisation goals.
Join us as we discuss:
- Is it too late to comply with D-2? Are extensions available?
- Has D-2 led to the scrapping of vessels
- How can we enhance the efficiency of installed BWMS?
- Alternatives: Ballast water treatment as a service
- If challenging water quality is a port issue, should we consider changing ports?
Panellists:
Jad Mouawad, CEO, Mouawad Consulting
Jakob Olsson, CCO, BAWAT
Mark Riggio, President, EcoHarbor
Guillaume Drillet, SGS regional manager (Asia-Pacific), SGS

This meeting will mark the culmination of two decades of work at the IMO on ballast water treatment and should signify the end of this process. In this webinar, experts will examine the agenda for MEPC 82 and the broader direction of the BWMS industry.
