Tanker Shipping & Trade Webinar Week
Be sure to join us for Tanker Shipping & Trade Webinar Week incorporating two sessions on Shuttle Tankers
Charters. Compliance. Coatings. Cargo Emissions. Shuttle Tankers
Beginning Monday 7 March, Riviera will be holding a series of webinars focused on on crude oil tankers that win charters, regulation, coatings and cargo emissions. Each free 45-minute webinar features a panel of maritime professionals expert in their chosen fields. Our week includes two 90 minute webinars focused on shuttle tankers operations in the North Sea, Arctic and South Atlantic.
Our webinars are designed to strike the right balance between transmission of key information and interaction with the expert panel assembled. Those who register will also receive copies of webinar materials post event.
Our discussions are focused, cover the advertised subjects, and deliver registrants actionable insights.
Registration is free, please sign up below.
To guarantee a position on one of the webinar panels, as either a premium partner or sponsored presenter and panellist, please contact Paul Dowling. A number of positions are made available throughout our webinar weeks for our commercial partners on a first come, first served basis.

Shuttle tanker design, operations and decarbonisation offshore BrazilDate: Monday 7 March - Time: 14:00-15:30 GMT |
Brazil is the global leader in shuttle tanker activity. By 2030, the total volume of oil transported by shuttle tankers in its territorial waters is forcast to hit 1.84Bn barrels. Such demand is inspiring innovative design as well as evolution in rule sets and classification including a notation for remote, tamper-proof verification of DP systems and new cargo operation technologies to complement the role of the shuttle tanker in the South Atlantic. All of these steps are taking place against the backdrop of stricter environmental legislation and IMO’s GHG goals.
Join us as we discuss
- Innovation in shuttle tanker design for South Atlantic operations
- Remote, tamper-proof, data-driven verification of DP system testing
- Transfer and loading from DP shuttle tankers to non-DP tankers
- Decarbonising shuttle operations including EEDI, CII, GHG challenges
- Sea loading systems that optimise crude transfer
Panellists:
Mario Barbosa, Senior Sales Manager, Marine Power, Latin America, Wärtsilä
Amit Pal, Global Director, Dynamic Positioning Shuttle Tankers (DPST), AET

The future-proofed crude oil tanker
|
This webinar considers powering, propulsion and retrofit options for future-proofing large Aframax/LRII oil tankers, and the extent to which these options will find favour with charterers.
Join us as we discuss
- LNG retrofit installation: now at the AiP stage
- Electric hybrid installation: a tanker first in 2022
- Adopting for new fuels: methanol and ammonia reviewed
- Drop-in bio/synthetic fuel operation
- Mitigation: carbon voyage offset
Panellists:
Madhu Vadakkepat, Director, N2tankers & Synergy Commercial
Mauri Harki, Senior Advisor, Deltamarin
Marco La Valle, General Manager, Marine Engineering Services
Giuseppe Zagaria, Technical Director Marine Italy, RINA Services
Crude oil cargo emissions and Volatile
|
Decarbonisation is not just about exhaust emissions, it covers every source of carbon emission, including gases from hydrocarbon-based cargoes. Capturing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and using them as fuel is one possibility. Other carbon emissions outlets include auxiliary engines, boilers and shafts seals. This webinar assesses how these emissions can be controlled and be shown to be controlled.
Join us as we discuss
- Mechanisms to reduce the release of carbon from tankers
- Whether tankers should store carbon gases
- How tankers can use VOCs as fuel and who pays
- OCIMF guidelines on VOCs
- Telling the “doing less harm” story
Panellists:
Hans Jakob Buvarp, Business Development Manager, Wärtsilä Oil and Gas Systems
Ole Oldervik, Dr.Ing., SINTEF Ocean
Captain Rohit Bhatia, Managing Director, Wade Maritime Group
Shuttle tanker technology and operations
|
The North Sea and Arctic are key proving grounds for shuttle tanker operations and technologies owing to the harsh environmental conditions and fragmented field structures in both regions. Our panel will share operational experience and insights forged in these locations with special emphasis on technology, safety, standards, crewing and the outlook for future shuttle tanker operations.
Join us as we discuss
- Power requirements and selection for Arctic and North Sea conditions
- The orderbook: delivery date, order price, construction period and technical specifications
- Incidence reporting as a tool for building safety regulations
- Taut hawser modes and safe pilot transfer
- Ice navigation: operational and safety challenges
- The future of shuttle tanker activity in the North Sea and Arctic: operational, regulatory, technical and market requirement
Panellists:
Catrine Vestereng, Vice President & Business Director Tankers, Maritime, DNV
Tim Smith, Director, Maritime Strategies International Ltd
