WinGD chief executive Klaus Heim has informed the company board of his intent to step down at the end of this month
Mr Heim has spent five years at the helm of the Swiss engine manufacturer and will step down from the role effective 31 July 2023.
The Swiss engine manufacturer expressed its gratitude to Mr Heim and noted his achievements in his tenure as chief executive. Mr Heim steered WinGD through a period of significant growth and innovation, with the company launching a suite of smart power services and strengthening its position in the maritime industry. The company is currently looking at rolling out a methanol-fuelled two-stroke engine in 2024.
Mr Heim remarked, “Serving as the chief executive of WinGD for the past five years has been an incredible privilege and a journey filled with remarkable achievements. Throughout this time, I have had the pleasure of working alongside our exceptional colleagues, customers, partners and shareholders. However, I believe it is the right time for me and for WinGD to make this transition and to contribute my knowledge and experience in a different capacity elsewhere.”
In light of this transition, the board of directors has appointed Dominik Schneiter as acting chief executive, effective 1 July 2023. Mr Schneiter is an industry veteran with three decades of experience and has served as the company’s vice president of research and development for the last seven years.
WinGD said the process of formally handing over the chief executive role to Mr Schneiter has commenced.
Upon his appointment, Mr Schneiter said, “I am honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading WinGD as we navigate the evolving landscape of the shipping industry. Building upon our strong foundation, we will continue to drive innovation, advance sustainable solutions and provide exceptional value to our customers and partners.”
