Ballast water treatment system manufacturer Ecochlor has made two new executive moves promoting Panos Smyroglou to vice president of sales and marketing, and David Swindells to director of sales and marketing with immediate effect
In his new role, Mr Smyroglou, previously director of business development, will oversee the global sales team, manage major client accounts, and develop strategies to increase revenue growth and profitability while enhancing and supporting customer relations and new acquisitions.
Mr Smyroglou established the Ecochlor office in Athens to better support existing and new customers in Greece, as well as Europe and the Middle East.
He was also part of the EcoOne regulatory team, where he managed and expedited shipboard testing for IMO and USCG type-approval of the company’s filterless BWMS that was launched last April. Prior to joining Ecochlor, Mr Smyroglou founded Abacus Marine Consultants, a company focused on ship repairs and equipment.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Smyroglou said, “These are exciting times at Ecochlor and I am looking forward to leading our sales efforts through this next phase at Ecochlor.”
“I am extremely thankful for this opportunity to work closely with our clients so that I may create the best experience possible as they navigate their BWMS retrofit and newbuild efforts.”
Mr Swindells will take over as director of sales and marketing at Ecochlor where he will directly oversee and assist the regional business development managers in high-level meetings to close sales and initiate approaches for on-going customer relationships and assist in setting short- and long-term goals for the sale of Ecochlor’s BWMSs by developing strategies, activities and benchmarking goals for the team’s sales cycles.
Hired in 2021, Mr Swindell has been instrumental in driving new business to Ecochlor within North America, focusing on a new market segment ─ ATB and offshore support vessels.
Mr Swindells has spent three decades in the maritime industry. Prior to Ecochlor he secured contracts for millions of dollars to deliver supplies and services to naval and commercial new ship construction and in 2001 expanded business development from the United Kingdom into the North American marine arena.
