Emirates Shipping Line (ESL) has announced the appointment of Sushil Sriram as chief executive
Sushil Sriram succeeds Till Ole Barrelet, who steps down after four years of leadership. A statement said that Mr Till strengthened the company’s strategic direction and positioned ESL on the global map during his tenure, laying a strong foundation for sustained growth.
Mr Sriram brings two decades of international leadership experience across strategy, operations, and commercial management in markets in Asia and Europe. Since joining ESL as chief trade officer in January 2024, the container shipping line said he has worked closely with the leadership team to advance ESL’s position among the world’s top shipping lines.
ESL added, "He takes the helm as the liner sails into a new chapter of our ESL story, celebrating 20 years of connecting opportunities. Under Sushil’s leadership, ESL will continue to grow, to remain a carrier of choice for customers and partners alike."
ESL, headquartered in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in the United Arab Emirates, operates an annual capacity of around 700,000 TEU and calls at 60 terminals weekly.
