Reese McNeel named interim chief executive of accommodation vessel provider, following resignation by veteran shipping executive Terje Askvig
Prosafe’s board of directors has appointed chief financial officer Reese McNeel as interim chief executive, effective 1 September, following the resignation Terje Askvig.
Mr Askvig joined the Oslo-listed accommodation vessel operator in 2023 as chief executive. He is a seasoned veteran of shipping, offshore and finance. He was an operating partner and senior advisor at the private equity firm Triton Partners prior to joining Prosafe. He served as a chairman of DeepOcean, Nordic Tankers and Herning Shipping, and was on the board of OSM Thome, and held management positions at several other shipping companies.
Prosafe board chairman, Carey Lowe, is acting as executive chairman and working with the management team during the transition period. The board has initiated a process to appoint a permanent chief executive.
Mr Lowe and the board thanked Mr Askvig for leading “the company through the challenging financial restructuring and is leaving Prosafe as the world’s leading provider of floating accommodation vessels and units for maintenance and safety.”
Mr McNeel has been chief financial officer since August 2022, and served as interim chief executive prior to Mr Askvig’s appointment in November 2023. Mr NcNeel has more than 20 years of experience from management and financial positions, including many years of experience from the offshore industry.
Prior to joining Prosafe, Mr McNeel served as deputy chief executive and chief financial officer at Atlantica Tender Drilling Ltd and as chief executive and chief financial officer of Sevan Marine.
