Subsea 7 senior vice president will lead a contractor-facing group at a UK-based underwater hub
Global Underwater Hub (GUH) intends to start a new forum this year to bring together the major underwater contracting companies and the supply chain in a collaborative environment.
Heading this will be Subsea 7 senior vice president Steve Wisely, who brings a 30-year career in delivering of offshore energy solutions.
GUH’s contractor leadership forum will be launched later this year to focus on solving the technical challenges facing developers and operators of offshore energy projects with subsea elements.
This trade and development body represents the UK’s £9.2Bn (US$12.4Bn) underwater industry and is expanding its focus into offshore contracting.
“Mr Wisely will be a valuable addition to our board which sets and steers our strategy of supporting and growing the industry across all sectors from oil and gas and decommissioning to offshore wind, wave and tidal, defence, aquaculture and telecommunications,” said GUH chief executive Neil Gordon.
Mr Wisely added, “Contractor firms represent significant potential investment opportunities in the UK, in terms of product and service delivery.
“We work closely with operators and developers but also need essential input from the supply chain to address challenges effectively.”
GUH aims to grow the value of the UK’s underwater industry, which is one of the largest and fastest-growing industrial sectors in the country, accelerate the transition to net zero, drive innovation and deliver a step-change in the development of underwater technology and services.
“This new forum, designed to focus on interaction between contractors and the supply chain, will act as a springboard through providing valuable insight into these technical issues and through working collectively to develop innovative solutions to support the industry,” said Mr Wisely.
