Chicago-based private equity firm GTCR has partnered with maritime industry leader Manish Singh to form Maris Investments, targeting acquisitions in the maritime technology sector
Mr Singh, who brings more than 30 years’ maritime experience, will serve as chief executive and co-invest alongside GTCR.
The venture aims to build a market-leading platform addressing critical workflows and digital transformation across the industry.
Most recently, Mr Singh led Ocean Technologies Group as chief executive from 2019, transforming it into a leading maritime software platform for shipowners and managers globally. Prior to OTG, he spent 12 years in leadership roles at V Group, contributing to the shipmanagement company’s international expansion.
Mr Singh began his career at sea as a ship officer and Master Mariner before transitioning to shore-based leadership positions with major shipmanagers.
"Maritime technology is experiencing rapid transformative digital innovation," said GTCR managing director for technology, media and telecommunications Mark Anderson. The firm’s Leaders Strategy approach involves partnering with exceptional management to build market-leading companies through acquisitions and organic growth.
GTCR, founded in 1980, manages approximately US$50Bn in equity capital and has invested over US$30Bn in 280+ companies.
