Tim Wilkins to succeed Katharina Stanzel as managing director from 1 January 2025
During a meeting of the Intertanko Council this week, managing director Katharina Stanzel confirmed she will be stepping down from the position at the end of the year.
Ms Stanzel has served as managing director of Intertanko since 2012, representing the interests of independent tanker owners worldwide and championing the role and reputation of the tanker industry as a vital and responsible partner in the global energy supply chain.
She has been driving collaboration and partnerships between industry stakeholders, advocating for policies that foster sustainable growth, fair competition and international co-operation in developing best practice, operational excellence and global solutions for a global industry.
The fifth managing director in the Association’s long history, she was the first to bring an environmental background to the position.
Members of the Council elected deputy managing director Tim Wilkins to succeed Ms Stanzel, effective 1 January 2025. She will remain with the Association through the transition period, ensuring a seamless handover in the months ahead.
Commenting on her time with Intertanko, Ms Stanzel said, “It has been an absolute privilege to work with and serve the interests of Intertanko’s members worldwide and developing, guiding and directing the fantastic team of professionals we have in the Secretariat today.”
Tim Wilkins, currently deputy managing director and environment director, has over 25 years’ experience with Intertanko, and is currently overseeing the Association’s environmental agenda and European and Board activities.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Wilkins said, “I am honoured to lead Intertanko and humbled by the support of the Association’s members. My focus will be on shaping a sustainable future for the tanker industry by supporting members through the decarbonisation transition, safeguarding the future of our seafarers and actively addressing the complex geopolitical challenges we face.”
